Mail Center

All full-time residential students receive a mailbox on the day they register.  The Mail Center will assign students a campus box number and this will be the mailbox the student will keep during his/her duration as a full time student at William Jessup University.

The Mail Center is located within the Student Life Office.

Mail Room Hours:

  • Monday - Friday: 11 am - 3 pm

  • Saturday: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

  • Sunday: Closed

  • Hours are subject to change during Winter Interim, Spring Break, and Summer Break

Mail Center FAQ’s

  • Each student mailbox has its own unique mailbox combination formatted as:  ##-##-##

    To open student mailboxes, first ZERO the lock by turning counterclockwise three times, then follow these steps:

    1. Turn lock once COUNTERCLOCKWISE (left) to the FIRST number.

    2. Turn lock ONCE around CLOCKWISE (right) passed the FIRST number to your SECOND number of your combination.

    3. Turn lock COUNTERCLOCKWISE (left) directly to THIRD number

    4. Turn lock CLOCKWISE as you feel the lock stick and pull open

    NOTE: We cannot take mail out of mailboxes and deliver them to students or open boxes from the inside of the Mail Center.
    If a student does not remember his/her combination, combinations can be found on My.Jessup.edu > Student Portal > Doc Tracking. 

  • Receiving Letters

    • Mail is distributed to student mailboxes anytime from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. This is subject to change depending on when mail is delivered by postal services.

    • Mail Staff may not take items from mailboxes for students. Appropriate actions will be taken for those boxes that are broken.

    • Letters and packages can be sent out via USPS, UPS, and FedEx.

    Sending Letters

    The Mail Center sells postage for USPS. Letters and packages can be sent out with most postal services.

    Supplies available for free at the Mail Center:

    • USPS Flat Rate boxes

    • USPS Flat Rate envelopes

  • When you receive a notification through your Jessup Gmail Account, sign out your package and then you may receive your package.

    NOTE: The Mail Center has the right to refuse package retrieval to any student who does not have their Student I.D at the time of pick-up.

    Amazon Hub Lockers are secure, self-service kiosks where you can pick up Amazon.com packages at a time and place that is convenient for you.

    3. How do I use a Locker?

    To use an Amazon Hub Locker as your shipping destination, find a Locker and add it to your Amazon address book. Then, during checkout, select the Locker as your shipping address. Once your package has been delivered, we will email you a unique 6 digit code. Simply visit your selected Locker and enter the code on the Locker's touchscreen, then remove your package after the Locker's door opens.     4. How much does using an Amazon Hub Locker cost?

    There is no additional cost to use an Amazon Hub Locker. FREE Two-Day Shipping is available with Amazon Prime. Standard shipping rates apply for all other orders.

    5. How long do I have to pick up my package?

    You have 3 calendar days to pick up your package. If you're not able to collect your package within this time-frame, it will be returned for a refund.

    6. What kind of items can be delivered to an Amazon Hub Locker?

    Yes. If your item is eligible to be returned to a Locker, you will see Amazon Hub Locker as a Drop-off option during the returns process on Amazon.com.

  • Yes, upon request a commuter student may receive a mailbox for that semester. A Commuter Mailbox Request form must be completed.

  • Delivery

    Mail is typically delivered by FED EX, USPS and UPS between the hours of 11:00 am – 2:30 pm. Letters and packages are delivered once per day by Mail Staff. Times depend on when deliveries from the postal service arrive but typically occur between 11:00am-2:30pm.

    Packages are available to be picked up at the main desk in the Mail Center by the department name. All letter mail is delivered to the departments assigned locker located in the Edrington building.

    When receiving packages, the recipient must sign out the package to confirm delivery by the Mail Staff. If the recipient is unavailable the receptionist or front desk worker will sign for the package.

    Mail Preparation

    Department codes are mandatory for all standard mail pieces– Not only for outgoing/accounting purposes, but for sorting mail being returned to the university.

    • Standard mail pieces are all letter/mailing envelopes, flats, and parcels made of printable paper numbering fewer than 250.

    • Like pieces should be banded together to prevent damage to the mail piece

    • Sealed envelopes with other sealed envelopes

    • unsealed envelopes with other unsealed envelopes

    • The postage machine will not seal flat size envelopes that open from the end.

    • Please always write or have your department code printed on the address label

    • Items not properly coded may be returned or delayed.

    • Tampering with boxes and mail items is against the law

    • Locked access to mail center is for the safety and security of postal items and mail center staff. Please do not enter mail center unless authorized to do so by mail attendant.

    • Students may not use their mailboxes as a business to sell merchandise. This is illegal and will result in involvement with Campus Security.

    • Drugs, Weapons, and any other illegal objects will not be shipped from or to student mailboxes.

    • Mail attendants have the right to ask for identification or to refuse the retrieval of packages for lack of identification (especially in cases where they do not know the recipient /addressee). Those picking up a package for another employee must present a signed note from the recipient granting the individual permission to retrieve the package on their behalf.

    • Unclaimed or non-addressed mail is subject to opening to investigate the owner/recipient.

    • Unclaimed mail after 3 months may be shredded or returned to sender.
